Arkleton Trust Award

testArkleton Trust LogoWe are thrilled to hear that we have been awarded the Arkleton Trust Award for £16,500. Regular visitors to our website and readers of our monthly newsletters will know we have been very concerned about youth unemployment in Gunjur. As you will also know the Wiltshire Global Education Centre run by Caroline Harmer is an intrinsic part of MBG's work.

Bringing these two elements together has resulted in our developing a proposal and the grant will allow us to run a competition between schools in Wiltshire whose pupils, in groups of five, will be invited to produce business plans which would be appropriate for development by entrepreneurs in Gunjur. At the same time, the competition will be open to new young business entrepreneurs in Gunjur who, again in groups of five, will be asked to develop business plans.

Sudden death of Tim David MBG Chair 2007-2011

Tim David MBG 2007 - 2011 v
We were extremely shocked to hear of the sudden death of Tim David, Past Chairman of MBG 2007 -2011 on 12 May and we all send our deepest sympathies to Rosie and the children Piers and Isobel.

Tim joined us as Chair from a background in the Diplomatic Service including much time spent in Africa, not least as High Commissioner to Zambia. So he brought experience, knowledge, wisdom and diplomacy with a strong sense of humour all of which played a vital role in the work of a small community based organisation in Wiltshire, linked to a Muslim community in West Africa.

Local lady Val Fuller kindly donated 12 hand knitted jumpers to MBG for children in Gunjur. It can get surprisingly chilly at night at this time of year so the brightly coloured jumpers were most welcome.
