Global Spotlight Competition

Global Spotlight is a competition for primary schools which has been run very successfully in Corsham, Salisbury and Swindon. Groups of KS2 children identify a global issue which concerns them but which has a local community application such as Fairtrade, rubbish and pollution, climate change etc. With the support of staff from WGEC staff who fill in their knowledge gaps, the children devise a lively oral presentation for the competition, supported by older children from their local secondary school. They will also have to demonstrate what actions they have taken in their local community to highlight or work towards resolving their issue. The prize for the winning team is a funded visit to discuss their global issue with their MP, in London.
