Colin Crorkin The Gambia's new Ambassador visits MBG in Marlborough

Guy-Loosmore--Colin-CrokinMBG was privileged to receive a visit from the HM's new Ambassador to The Gambia on Friday 21 March for him to receive a briefing about the background to our partnership with Gunjur and our current work there.

It was also an opportunity for him to meet representatives of Afikaya based in Pewsey who are working in teacher training in the Gambia and a school partnership between a primary school in North London and a community on the North Bank in The Gambia.

It was clear that the Ambassador was impressed with our work and offered his support once he is in office (from 18 April 2014).

IB-PresentationFollowing lunch in the MBG office Colin Crorkin met International Baccalaureate students at St John's who had spent two weeks in Gunjur last Easter living with families in the community and learning from and contributing to the community as part of the IB work.

The Ambassador was then welcomed to Marlborough by the Mayor Guy Loosmore and members of the Town Council, not least three previous Mayors all of whom had visited Gunjur during their Mayoral years.

The Mayor stated how proud the town was of its long standing link with Gunjur in The Gambia.
